My story

Under the Trees Counselling was born from a lifelong passion for helping others. I have always been the person that people seek out to talk about hard things. From a young age, I have countless memories of people telling me that conversations with me made them feel better, and that has always made me feel really good. This natural ability and desire to support others led me to create a counselling service where I can offer a space for individuals and couples of all ages to navigate life's winding roads. I hold a Bachelor of Counselling (with distinction) and am a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association. Alongside private practice counselling, I work in a public hospital supporting those in mental health crisis as an Advanced Peer Worker.

Why 'Under the Trees'?

I have always felt that trees are a portal to another world. The trunk, humming with a secret history and twisting branches mapping out unseen architecture against the sky. The cool shade of the undergrowth, a sheltered sanctuary for new life. This is how I see counselling, as fertile ground for growth where new stories take root - 'Under the Trees'.

My approach

I believe the secret to a life full of joy and ease lies in the power of self-determination and self-compassion. I help you soften your harsh self-talk, walking with you while you learn to trust your own judgement. My goal is to empower you to see the strengths that were always there, cheering you on while you make lasting changes in your life.

With my therapeutic identity anchored in Rogerian principals of authenticity, empathy and unconditional positive regard, clients can expect to feel regulated and grounded while they work through stories keeping them stuck. Emphasising safety and inclusivity for all neurotypes and genders, I consider essential sociocultural elements that impact individual communication styles.

I integrate the frameworks of developmental psychology and evidence-based modalities including Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Schema therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and Solution-focused therapy (SFT).

Why choose me?

My lived experience with mental health and professional agility in ethically integrating this element sets me apart. My own journey with grief, addiction, and recovery equipping me with a felt sense of empathy. Together, we explore your story through a psychotherapeutic lens, making meaning, noticing patterns, and uncovering tools that are specific to your needs and goals. If you’re looking for a dedicated counsellor to walk alongside you along a new path, Under the Trees Counselling is here for you.
